Summer holidays

Summer holidays

Working from home has been the new 'normal' for many during this Covid19 pandemic. We've been working hard to get this website up and running, along with ensuring we've sufficient sea glass jewellery stock on hand. We work from our studio and so the travel restrictions didn't affect us, because it's just next door.

When Lock down was eased, as mentioned, Vikki started working back at the beach cafe in Croyde again. We saw the demand for lattes, bacon sandwiches and toasties increase overnight, as the travel restrictions were lifted. Visitors and locals enjoyed as much socially distanced freedom as was safe and things started to get back to a semblance of normality. The sun shone, buckets, beach balls, barbecues and bikinis were out in force... Summer had arrived and we were busy.

Looking out of the cafe window one afternoon, Vikki noticed some smoke coming out of the dog poo bin at the entrance to the beach path. We ran over and opened the lid to find a disposable bbq complete with still burning embers lying among the poo bags! I mean, come on, what the hell are people thinking of? That was a first, usually they wait and drop the hot bbqs in to the cafe's plastic wheelie bins!

Luckily we already have a big supply of local sea glass and sea pottery, collected over the years. We have some beautiful items yet to be made into rings, bracelets, earrings and necklaces. This is just as well, as going in search of new pieces was getting harder to fit in, due to the demands of the cafe.
